Recent Bargains

That Casio thread gave me the idea to open a thread for people to post their recent bargains - Good buys for good prices.

I myself just got this off eBay (should arrive tomorrow):

Tapco SQ2 Compressor/Gate

It's supposed to have much better circuitry than the Alesis 3630 and the like, but what makes it interesting is the "AIR" function. Basically a post-compression HF exciter that should be a lot fun to play with.

I'm looking forward to making some super compressed sounds and seeing what kind of character I can get from abusing them with it. Also, I've been running some stuff to cassette recently, maybe I'll put this in the signal chain as well.

Price - £37. And that includes the shipping. And the guy is even throwing in some jack cables to boot. SCORE!
Basically, if I use it even just a few times it will have been worth it.

Who else made a good buy recently?

Just got a couple of these guys from MusiciansFriend $99 each. Was dying for some decent monitors and these happened to be on sale at just the right time. I really love them so far, and just finished my first electronic track with them. :U:

Fucking huge picture :( sorry

Mad, I've been wanting to pick up some outboard stuff, but I don't have any way to hook up aux sends :( I've already got a rack reverb that I want to use too :( What kind of gear do you have besides that?

Nice Hudson..

I don't really have much outboard - mainly an Allen & Heath Zed10FX & Fathead II ribbon mic (also an SM57 and a contact mic as well).

My A&H doesn't have individual channel inserts - so I am somewhat limited as to what I can do... but I'm not very bothered due to the criteria I had for buying the A&H in the first place. I won't be using it to record entire bands or anything, I mainly use it for mic'ing & recording my cello, and I wanted the best onboard pre-amps I could find as well as some decent onboard effects (like a simple verb) for when I have used it to play cello live with a contemporary dance group.

$150 :)
Don't see myself completely switching over to Logic, but I definitely plan on getting my money's worth out of it. I couldn't pass it up for that cheap

I got some decent deals on some cassette decks a while back. One for free on account of its line-in not working, it's a dual so it's still good for dubbing.

Nice.
For those prices, it would be hard to argue against either one. 8)

Wub, ill have the 3630 off you if you get bored, used to have one, great for ragging far beyond normality. been looking for one cheap, but going for 50-60 on ebay, bit steep for what it is. :)

Korg tr-rack for $120, roland mc-303 for $150 (not a huge bargain, but really cool little groovebox), and some m-audio monitors for $150/pair. Also got a behringer mixer. Oh and the pt9 upgrade for 120.

Elizabethan LZ29 Valve Reel to Reel tape recorder from 1963.

I've been keeping an eye on various Reel to Reels - problem with many of the cheaper ones like Grundigs, is that they use a 5 pin DIN cable which is a hassle to find adapters.
As far as I can tell - this uses a mono RCA.

The only question is its working order - there aren't any built-in speakers on this model, so the seller only knows that it powers on and everything turns. For £10 it is worth the punt I think.

Got a Mackie mixer for like $15 at a flea market last summer. Never even used it yet.
