Hey guys, new to the forum, but hopefully you'll be seeing more and more of me. I haven't been producing for too long, and I'm still trying to find my sound, but I've got some tracks out there for people to vibe on, and I would love to hear some critique, be it positive or negative. My newest track, Airlock, is below this post, in my signature. If you like it, there's a link to my Soundcloud under that. I've got a few tracks up on there, and definitely more on the way, which I'll post on here too. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

-Cross Them Out

[PS; all my tunes are free 320's. Enjoy. ^^]

Beats sound a bit dry here, reverb could fix that, always nice to put drums in a space, pretty generic wobble sound if I'm honest :-) , like your checking of the dubstep list, push it harder!

Thanks for the feedback man. I'm always a little wary putting too much verb on the drums, there's definitely some there though. Guess I'll try to throw a bit more on next time. I agree with you on the wobble too, still getting the hang of that one, haven't made too many tunes yet, haha. Was tricky trying to make a wobble that didn't rape the rest of the track. xD

Hearing you on the verb on drums weariness :) , you need to check yer reverb settings, eq it properly, cutting the lows if using on kicks, which could otherwise muddy up the mix real quick. In your tune you could maybe have some extra verb now and then to accentuate the snare, or gradually automate the send/mix value to emphasize a certain section.

Same with the wobble, maybe a good distortion effect to automate on top can do wonders. Another thing to try out is freezing the wobble vsti and make a sample out of it. Cut up that sample, maybe process it in a wave editor, do some cool tricks & arrange it back in your tune instead of what you have now. It's more work, but brings in more depth, maybe...

Yeah, for sure EQ is a big part of good verb. I always cut below around 100-300hz depending on what kinda track it is, but I still try not to go overboard throwing too much on the kicks. That said, if it's pretty sparse and your drums are simple, huge reverby kicks can sound great ;D. Good tip on the send/mix automation too, completely forgot about that.

This. This is what I need to get better at. Dubstep/DnB seems to rely a lot on heavy resampling, and I'm still too shit at it. Need more practice for sure. Maybe I'll go wild on my next track, just try and get some real experience in that aspect.
