Newbie in need of some help with Massive?

Hi there all! My name is Jacqueline. Am really new to production (been messing around with ableton for a month) and absolutely loving it. I could really use a lil help if folks don't mind re. Massive? Am stuck and I feel really stupid for asking but I can't find the answer anywhere via the manual or via the topics in the forum.

When I loaded up Massive, the notes changed for some reason and now are too high and I don't know how to change it back. I made a track before and the notes were fine (mid-range) when pressing keys. (Y'know 'A,S,D,F,G,H,' etc) Same old keys being pressed and sounds I've used are now 2 Octaves higher... my eardrums hurt! :u:

Basically I loaded up Kontakt for the first time see what that was like to make the melody for my track. I decided it wasn't the right sound for my song...and am thinking it's changed the notes playing out on my keyboard now (btw I haven't a midi one yet, am using my laptop keys :[). Hope I explained it ok, sorry if I haven't explained it too well :[

Many thanks,

Jacqueline x

I had a similar problem with Massive too once (I'm using Ableton as well, so that could also be the problem)
Everything just randomly decided to go up a few octaves, and I couldn't fix it. Does that happen every single time you use Massive, or is it just a single instance of it?

Thank you so much for writing back! :)

Well this is the first time it's ever done it and I don't know why. I closed everything down and restarted it thinking maybe that will reload/refresh the program and it's still the same. I think it's going to stay there :'( oh no.

Well you could change the octave by going - 12 or use the keys z and x to switch between octaves. That's how I do it.

What DAW are you using? I hear a lot from FL users that sometimes out of nowhere the root note is changed to an octave or 2 higher on the instrument channel settings (the little keyboard). Put it back at C5. Also, make sure there's nothing go on in the Global, Voicing and OSC sections of Massive. Seems like you sorted it, but if it keeps happening I would check those. Make sure the default project isn't saved with these settings too.

why are broads always so nicely greeted to the forums? while 14 year old puberty-struggling jimmy has to hide and stick a finger in his throat to punish himself because even when he tries to grant himself the tiniest bit of sense of self-value by blogging about his passion and endeavors, you and i make him feel like absolute lizard shit.

We're all going to hell mates.

:D btw OP, no pun intended :) glad to have u round here.

Honestly thought it was another 15 year old boy. "FruitFlesh" sounded quite phallic.
(Sorry FruitFlesh lol)

She had a very decent question to ask and didn't mention Skrillex, Modestep, Mt. Eden, Brostep, Wobbles, or anythig troll-worthy. Instantly accepted into the group :w:

Just to clarify, you were not having an issue with massive, it was an ableton issue. Ableton triggers massive using the keyboard, so as long as you have the little icon (with a few piano keys printed on it) at the top right highlighted yellow, you can use the qwerty keyboard to control any VST in ableton. You were looking in the wrong manuel haha…. mind you the live 8 manuel is over 550 pages long so u can be forgiven for not reading it

Not once did he/she mention raping his/her baby sister while listening to skrillex, therefore civility.

Op, I'm putting together a website of fundamentals on the production of electronic music, the link is down there in ma' signature. There isn't much there, but feel free to bookmark for later reading, have a lot of content in development right now.
