Soundcloud
this is mix 7 I brought back the low end of the kick, I scooped out too much and the track was sounding weak. The compressor should be taking care of any clashing or interference between the sub and the kick.

Thanks, what sounds murky in it, the bass? What can I do to make it sound better?

i dont think its bass that sounds murky, just the overall mix when every things playing together.
Dont get me wrong, it does'nt sound terrible, it would just be nice if it sounded brighter.
You could try and cut the lower frequencys out of lead bass/pads etc, that might help?!
Then again you've probs all ready done that.
Do u use a frequency analyzer when your writing your beats?!
I couldn't work without mine, its like my visual ear :)

I usually do it by ear. On my first mix down the kick was taking up too much of the sub bass low end 30-60 htz so I cut that out of the kick. The kick is too busy to side chain so I just let it sit on top of the sub. The human error sample itself could have some bass taken out of it and maybee the lead bass too. Frequency anylizers are tough for me to read. I guess I havent found a good one yet! Im using cubase and reason. I could do freq analysis in Adobe Audition but again I can usually tell be ear better.

fuzz_2k, I've never used a frequency analyzer, can you recommend any good ones for download?

paradigm001 I agree with fuzz about the murkiness of the track but IMO that adds to the actual feel of the track, I mean you were going for dark weren't you :D
also I especially like the melody and honestly the wobbles aren't too shabby, overall the track is really solid!

if you guys have anytime can you critique or comment on my WIP?

Yep, ear is always best!
I use the ixl spectrum analyzer, but there's probably links to some free one's over in the production forum.

yea rich I was going for a dark feel, i dont think the track sounds too bad, if anything I compressed a bit much but its not that different when you listen to some DATSIK tracks that have no head room what so ever.

Does anyone wanna help me make this track sound better? Im only writing because a label showed interest in this track and some of my others in a different thread. I wanna make it label ready so I have the best chance of getting signed.

I like the bass a lot, well made. I feel like some reverb on the snare would sound ill in the mix, volume ups on the bass (low end/sub) too. Definitely got that Excision/Datsik feel on the womp, big ups.

Sorry I can't really think of any feedback for your song I'm not really great with the technical side which is all that might be left on this but just wanted to say that this track is SOLID, I was never a huge fan of Datsik but I really liked this.
