any idea on how you would create and process this lead

Those stabs? Sounds like samples of pitched bass guitar hits. Or like the melodies? Saw waves, slightly detuned, chorused, reverbed, then low-pass filter modulated and chorused again?

Rustie is absolutely Killing it. Most fav artist from that 'type' of dubstep

All i got so far is he uses ableton on a PC and everything is in the box, minus maybe some guitar i think.

and how do you create the bass from surph i think ive heard that kind of a bass in many other traks

Definitely sounds like a sample to me, I just tried to recreate it using exs24's bass patch, got pretty close by eq-ing the high end up and using a maserati plug in from waves, but I think it would take a lot of resampling to get it spot on

this bass sounds like a really wide saw wave with reverb, try getting like a saw wave, maybe 2 and detune them a tiny bit, set the synth to unison, and some chorus to it, and add some quick reverb, then low cut this sound, and use just a sine wave for the sub underneath it playing the same notes.

the first tune is definitely a sampled slap bass guitar sound, which you can get in exs24 sampler in logic.

ok, sorry that didn't help basically what we're getting at is,
1. get a nice acoustic slap bass instrument, I'm sure there will be one for your sampler of choice
2. EQ the high end up, all your going to need then is some more harmonics
3. add some chorus
4. add a sine if you feel it needs more bass or punch
Hopefully that should send you in the right direction
Experimenting with effects and plugins is probably the key here as well

Had a quick browse through the forum for a Rustie thread and stumbled upon this... thought I'd might as well add to it.



Does anyone know how to achieve the hi pitched sound that comes in around 57 seconds? I'm assuming it's FM synthesis?

That Glass Swords LP is awesome, btw. Easily one of the best albums to have come out this year.
