!kaboogie night

Proper badman DROP THE LIME hits Dublin for his first live show here. The man is responsible for throwing the infamous Bangers & Mash Grime parties with the Shadetek boyos in New York City, as well as Brooklyn's infamously bangin Trouble And Bass nights with Mathhead, Starkey n co.

Over the last two years DTL's sound has moved from jungley breakcore into an ULTRA bass heavy mashup of rave goodness, filthy 4-4, grime, and baltimore club styles.
He also helped introduce dubstep and grime on the other side of the pond by mixin it in with his hip-hop and bassy house sets. Ever a champion of diversity, he's even picked up the mic himself for his most recent album 'We Never Sleep'.

This boy is a hot sausage...

Support on the night comes from sub zero man OBSIDIAN who will be playing only the nastiest n darkest of dubstep, !kaboogie heads RICHIE K and SIXFOOT APPRENTICE for some junglisms,

and some massive electro-bass-break-tasticness from Barcelona-based ED DEVANE who last year gave us the quality 'Squirm EP' on UK label Touchin' Bass.

yeah traffic is closed for the summer and for sale. if it doesnt sell i think its reopening in september - or sumting like that.

kennedys door men can be fucks alright and the sound isnt as good as traffic but its still an alright venue, i reckon.

theres not really anywhere else decent that size is there?

Thats strange with Traffic. Dont understand why it makes sense to keep a club closed rather than open it for business.
I dont think they ever managed to get a regular crowd in to fill the upstairs bars, thats where they fell down, I'll bet they spent a fortune doing it up and it isnt paying back.

I cant think of anywhere else mid-sized around town off the top of my head, apart from Crawdaddy, which can be hit and miss. Venue not good for dubstep clubs cos the bassbins are at unmovable floor height and dont have the same impact. I'd say its expensive to rent out too...

What about Switch? Or whatever its called now, the Mezz? I think they veered away from dance music a few years ago when D1 finished up there but they have a club called Acii Disco (never been to it, but seen posters for it) which I'm presuming by the name plays .. acid house? Dunno if its changed much now but when it was Switch it was hot, sweaty and dirty - perfect!

the hub/switch has its weekly residencies filled and to be honest its not the best sound and a bit of a mank pit.
rouge might be an option but i dunno the place - the others mentioned it.

keep the thinkin cap on though...

and the usual boucners arent on tonight in kennedys - or so ihear...
