Hey mates.
One more thread about monitors yeah. So i've saved money for a few month, and i will soon have enough for buying decent monitors. I have to choose : KRK rokit8 or Yamaha hs80m.
I'm not living close to shops, so I can't decide by my own or benchmark monitors. So i'm looking for advices, and what would be your choices.
I've already heard a lot of good things coming from hs80m

I'm absolutely satisfied with the Yamahas, but I haven't tried the KRKs to be honest.

I like the Krk8's but they're the only monitors I've ever heard so idk how they compare to anything else.

im on hs80m and tbh i prefer them over rp8's, i think krk monitors sound too nice almost, knowing they are supposed to be linear it sounds more like a stereo speaker. also i find it easier to set bass levels on hs80m's, propably because the bass outlet is in the back of the speakers where the krk's are in the front blasting right at you.

I have the krk 8s, I too was deciding between those two and got the krk's because I also use them for listening to music / watching tv / watching movies ( have it all chained together) and the fact that the krks are $100 cheaper a pop. I am very satisfied w/ the krks, they sound great. However if all you want to do is produce and are very serious about having flat speakers, get the yamahas. They are definitely a little more flat than the krks which is generally agreed upon. Either way it's not a big difference and you will be happy with either pair.

Monitors only for producing. I knew krk are not flat, I think Yamaha's will be my choice ( still have to wait again for money :s ) for 2012

how accurate do you want your sound? I bought JBL 2300s and they are exceptionally good monitors. KRKs have a lot of emphasis on the bottom end, which makes them sound really nice, but they're not very accurate. Go have a listen to them yourself on your favourite tunes and decide

in the 8inch range i prefer the yams, the krk rp6s are what i use though, don't rate either other the 5inch driver models too high

No matter how you shake it, nothings ever going to be truly flat... get something quality with a full range response, start adapting your ears to them, and learn to love them for years, the most important part is knowing them like the back of your hand.
Id go yamaha and then tweak your room acoustics from there. might consider saving for a sub too one day.

The Yamahas are the better monitor mate. Flatter, more accurate sound. Plus they dont have that ugly looking yellow cone.
