Never. Once your hearing is gone, its gone, thats how loss and tinnitus work sadly...
But you will adapt to it just fine, everyone does. Its like, if I came in and turned the brightness down on your computer monitor, youd have a hard time with it at first but after a day or two it would start to look really normal, and around the 2 weeks mark you'd be so used to it that turning the brightness back up would fuck with you just as much as it did turning it down...
Tke that analogy and run with it, hearing loss will make sense.
People on this forum put alot of emphasis on ear plugs and actual volume reduction/frequency filtering... but as far as I know, air pressure can be alot worse on your ears and can pretty easily fixed...

I know it sounds scary at first but you also have to realize this process is gradually happening to you even as we speak, youve just rushed a few months worth of normal hearing loss along, its weird to think of and even weirder when it happens but ultimately youll adapt and never take note of it again soon enough, even going to a doctor id imagine thats all they're going to tell you...

I went to a LOUD AS FUCK metal show last month, and when I walked out the building, my hearing was lowpassed to like 10Khz. Not much volume reduction though. In about an hour it went away and it's fine now. You should just let it do it's thing and if it isn't back to normal in a day or two then you should just kill yourself.

Not entirely true, your ears do have some level of self protection, but yes, you can damage your ears permanently, but this is most likely to be the effects of temporary threshold shift (TTS) You should be fine in 6 hours or so -

i have tinnitus permanantly for about 5 years now. your ears should adjust and be back to normal in a few days if not then you just have to deal with it really, but you do get used to it. my ears have been ringing for about 4/ 5 years and for the first few weeks it drove me mad, but then I got used to it and it doesn't bother me at all anymore really. seems like the ringing is not as loud as it used to be either, or maybe it's just because i don't think about it so much. get some ear plugs.. musicians ones are good if you want to pay a bit more, as most decrease the volume and protect your ears but don't affect the frequencies so you still hear the music properly. a lot of people dont wear plugs cos they think people will think they're pussies for wearing them, but looking after your ears is crucial, once you lose hearing you won't get it back. i got some musicians plugs and they have been great and i no longer worry about my hearing when in loud environments, well worth getting some.

I hate being at a gig when you know it's way too loud and you have to stand well back just so you won't come out with muffled ears, I'm always conscious of noise level at any gig, particularly dubstep where the bass just rips through you! After all you ears are your most important tool in music production

Actually, lower frequencies are less likely to damaged your ears than higher ones. Just sayin.

Effects of brostep, it's normal.
Try to get it back before a couple of weeks though because Aphex is playing b2b zomby at the Warehouse project in 2 weeks or so. Taking bets now on which one doesn't show up.

i bought some earplugs, aint got them yet, but im hoping it will make the listening experience better, cos i decided to get some after goin out and having to plug my ears with my fingers cos of the bass just irritating my ears so much that i thought it must be doing damage, and then i thought, really theres so much bass that it is all your can hear, and its so loud that its probably distorting and sounding unclear, so hopefully with plugs it will bring the level down and make the music clearer to hear.

I saw Terravita, Vaski, and AC Slater weeks ago and the openers had the volume way too loud (like scared for my ears). The volume went back down but I now know I really need some plugs.

Saw Skrillex(the biggest offender to aural health?

) last thursday night and I was wearing some cheap ear plugs. After the show, my friends were like "man, i can't hear anything" and I'm like "I'm fine.

". A little bit of protection vs. none at all will go a long way.
My neck and shoulders hurt though. Headbanging and pelvic thrusting to Pendulum's Salt in the Wound....now I know why they call it tearout.
