Hey guys, I know a dj who told me that he gets some of the tracks he plays from small time producers soundcloud tracks that have free downloads. I was wondering if this was common with djs, and also how often would a download on someones soundcloud would end up being played live? Thanks in advance!

well, some djs try to find the rarest stuff, so id say its very possible.
some dj hit me up about using one of my songs, not sure if he used it though.

Pretty simple concept if you ask me: If the track sounds good, I'll probably drop it into a set. Whether it was produced by a small-time/ less well-known producer or a big name doesn't matter a bit to me. Good music is good music no matter where it comes from.

I've definitely got a collection of tracks from producers that are under the radar.

Check out the Dubs forum sometime, there are some pretty good tracks in there from across the dubstep spectrum.

Embarrassing question but does a free 320 thread mean that they want it played live so they're giving free downloads? (Yes I know 320 is the quality of the file as well )

Could be. Could just be a bit of generosity man. If I give away a track, I'm not fussed what happens with it. Nothing serious.

This. Usually more bootlegs and stuff like that, but defo would play anything as long as it sounded good!
