Hey guys I have this new song i'm working on and i'm using a pretty popular female singer's acapella.
But the thing is I chopped it & glitched it to the point of being hardly recognizable, so should it be considered an original track or what?

It won't be an original track if you decide to release it lol.

It depends on your intent. If the idea was just looking for vocals to add something to your track or fill it in a little, it's not a remix, as you're not intending to build onto a pre-existing work. I'd say that you can claim the track as your own, as you've built something entirely creative. I don't know how extensive your sampling is, and how you cut phrases, etc., but as you say it's hardly recognizable, I'd say it isn't a remix, then. Especially if your track has little melodically or rhythmically in common with the song the acapella is sourced from.

Id say it is a remix.
Now if the vocals have never been released as another track, then it could be a collaboration/original i suppose.

IMO a remix is a reinterpretation of an original work. If you layed the vocals over it, or built the tune around the vocals, then I would say it's a remix/bootleg. If you just sampled them, then it's up for debate but I would say it's an original tune with sampled vocals.

Well Rusko used a line or two cut straight out of All The Right Moves by OneRepublic and then pitched them up for his track Everyday. So I'd say your clear.
