Yeh mate - Heard some good rumours about the Glade festival already (Vex'd being one of them) and Grant from Rephlex was reppin the sound there last year so its bound to be heard again this year...
...also heard Autechre, BOC and AFX will be playing....not sure how much truth is in it though.

I hope that you do understand that as dubstep becomes bigger, that will bring more whack DJ's, whack producers, etc to the scene...
just means you'll have to sift through more crap to get to the good stuff, but it's a downside none the less.

hmm. i wonder how useful this is in calculating how great interest in the sound over all. i would guess at an average of each vistitor to this forum having about 5 friends into it who don't check the forum. then a good number from word of mouth, the breezeblock, none web users, etc - i could go on. but it's interesting to try and guess just how much interest there actually is beyond our little world here.

I would think soundscan would be ever the better to figure out interest--how many units are the labels moving?

maybe but they wont get bookings unless they put on their own nights which wont be busy unless they book someone whos big in the scene which will be further promotion for this sound....
'whack' producers will not get signed and if they want to put the beats out themselves then they can waste their money init......
i cant see this scene becoming drum and bass in the near future...

auralassassin wrote:-how many units are the labels moving?
as many as they can afford to get pressed cos it's mostly still a vinyl thing, however mp3's are becoming more widely available and CD compilations a bit more frequent...
...the whole cutting dubplates thing is still a bit backwards looking though
I can see that this scene has already become like drum and bass but let's hope this place doesn't turn into the worst parts of DOA...

there's still a LOT of good music and good discussion on DOA, as well though... you just have to dig deep for it. And shit music gets put out in ANY genre... I know for a fact that there are dubstep tracks out that are being rinsed NOW by some big names that I don't think are really all that great...
with more good, there will obviously have to be some watered down versions of it... I just hope that it is few and far between.
