Hey guys i didnt wanna ask this in the help me make that sound thread simply because i dont want to learn to make a specific sound. i actually wanna know the concept of how growls work and the fundamental knowledge you need in massive or any synthesizer for that matter in making a nice growl. i'd also like to know a couple of recomended examples of distortions and filters that would be used post patch to make it sound unique i guess. calvertrons growl is one i personally like but i'd like to make my own signature one and i'd like for you guys to chip in and help me be on my way maybe. thanks!
I consider a growl something more like 0:07 of this song
i've made a sound similar to yours idk what to call it but i'm looking for something clean like above. this is what i made Soundcloud

Alot of the well-known growl sounds (Skrillex, Datsik, etc.) seem to be reese-based...just a thought. Not sure about datsik, actually, his might just be some implementation of modern talking.

i think you are going to be looking for something in the formant filter area or something similar to the yoi bass for that one

I don`t agree.
In the time I`ve been here I have seen nothing but folks being helped time and time and time again.
If you choose to ignore the fact that folks expect to be spoon-fed and they therefore receive attitude then so be it.
Either way
