Coki does real deep sub's but then agressive mids, and as a pro dubsteppa his percussion run the high ends and he rarely has a boosted hi end on his main bass's,
the kick therefore has a nice amount of room between the mids and lows, all about eq'ing with space, just about ANY kick can sound fat, it's just how it sits in the mix

Completely agree, with good sample selection you can make drum loops that need a minimal amount of EQ.
