How to mix dubstep with dnb?

I've been making mixtapes in Ableton just by warping and whatnot, but I can only mix stuff around 140bpm (or something close enough to warp to 140). How do I mix in dnb? Is it something with automating tempo?

You don't basically.. at least with decks you don't. Although it's possible to mix two completely different tempos in a break without
any rhythm elements.

well to beatmatch they have to be the same tempo, i have no idea how u dj with ableton but if you were to timestretch, slowing stuff down to 140 from 175 (ish) will sound a bit dodgy, you'd be better off speeding the dubstep up to dnb speed.

When i drop dnb in a set ill either mix the two songs in during a breakdown where drums are not going full speed or just are not there. Ill usually unwarp the dnb trak and jsut kind of mix it in at taste, eq/fx stuff to make it sound clean. and pull the dubstep out before either beats drop back in.
The other techniqure i have employeed was warping both tracks but using a build up form the dnb track as a transition period where i will move the tempo from 140-175ish gradually using a midi aissigned knob. also eq/fx to taste to help the transition work out right.

Try finding tunes with a bpm switch. Can't think of any that you could use now... 'The Exploding Star' by Eye-D and SPL is in 174 and 155, I think. Not that helpful but heh, it's start I guess.

contact - noisia and foreign beggars goes from 94 to 170. and not to mention alot of noisias stuff does that. you could also find dubstep song on beatport that sound on tempo but says like 153 or something, cause it probably switched during the song.

On ableton I've been mixing from dubstep into new life by nero. Theres no drums in the intro so it sounds fine down at 140, then during the build up I slowly turn the bpm up to 174 and let it drop

Either fade in and out on mixdown/intro or your pretty fucked. If you did somehow manage to miraculously bridge the tempo gap of 140 to 175 or visa versa, the tunes playing will sound like absolute dog shit anyway as the pitch will be so badly altered.

Sure you can automate the tempo. I made a mix not too long ago where it went from several different genres. Garage into house into electrofolk into dubtechno into garage into dubstep and ended with dub. Just get clever with automation and effects too. When I transitioned from different genres I just automated some delay and effects and dropped in the next tune on beat. Worked nicely. You could also make your own tune to use as a transition, or like others mentioned find one. Check this remix competition out, tune is 140 bpm then switches to 175:

was then gonna mention the camo and crooekd tune being 140/175. i mix at the breakdowns normally, can't do it well if theres no drums. or jus pull one back and then drop the other
