I'm moving from brostep to "real" dubstep

In the past, I've had some arguments with people on DSF, me defending skrillex, etc in a fairly juvenile way...
However, every day I am realizing more and more the validity of the points that the "tru heads" or dubstep purists, or whatever they're called have been making...
As I continue to grow my world view, and continue to listen to more and more music, I am realizing how formulaic the brostep sound has become (no hate for it - I respect the opinions of people who like it).
I started off on the wrong foot in DSF, coming in with a brostep fanboy point of view.
As I continue to produce music, my respect for the true dubsteppers, such as Skream, Benga, etc grows immensely.
These people are truly creative - their sound cannot be classified, it cannot be boxed in.
Not only do they manage to be on the forefront of music, with constantly creative ideas that blow my mind - they also just straight up make amazing music.
So I'm sorry to those of you who I came across to as an ignorant brostepper. My bad.

Big ups. This forum has tought me so much about the sound itself. I am glad I was lurking for a few months before I posted otherwise I would have been one of those kids too. Anyways, you have to start somewhere. Good that your looking at the true sound.

Thanks man, I appreciate that you accept this - cuz I honestly went in too fast, and a lotta people have every right to be mad pissed, cuz I just represented the emerging group of ignorant "DUHHHH wobblezzz" heads, which is too bad.
But I'm starting to get it now.

Believe it or not, I just got enough money for my birthday so that my birthday money combined with my other saved up money could buy me a pretty nice pair of subs, I thought all the hype about having subs was overstated, but for the record,

My new favorite activity is to lie on the floor of my room, play some dark dubstep tunes, and feel the sub pump in my chest.
You haven't heard dubstep til you've heard it on subs.

I came through the same way to dubstep. Orginally, a grunge and alt rocker, I was drawn by the energy of what now seems to be called Brostep, and this opened doors for me to the whole range of dubstep - I learnt my way backwards to how it became what it is now, all the Hardcore continuum talks and listened to old records to educate myself. And at the moment I'm also kind of tired by this omnipresence of the brosteppish sound (I moderate one Soundcloud group that has the word dubstep in its title, and 80% of what I hear is this type of sound
)
But I also have to say there is a bit of overreaction of the dubstep community towards this particular sound, after all it is just a matter of FM synthesis modulation and all kind of trickery in that respect. When you look in history of music there were many instances when a particular sound which is easily copied becomes identified with a certain genre. Think of 70's punk and Sex Pistols, 90's grunge and Nirvana they all employed some gimeckey elements that for some reason were easy to follow and sprawled a whole range of copycats. I know for certain there was an over reaction among the old-school grunge boys against the Nirvana sound for quite a while when they were all over the place. Then all the hype calmed down and now people look back with reverence to say the least.
I guess I just wanted to tell you that extreme attitudes in either directeion (brostep mayhem VS religious classic dubstep purism) are as bad for music and for yourself as artists. And this makes me sound so old already...

I don't understand these topics. What's the point in posting this? Do you want the people on DSF to like you?
I'm glad that you discovered "real dubstep" as you call it. But honestly, you could've enjoyed it without posting this right?

Whether you're moving to or even from "real" dubstep, big up for being open minded. Will never understand people that just listen to one kind of music all the time.

@OP i can't believe you've only just got subs!! You mean you've never spent 3 hours standing on a bass bin dancing like an idiot next to a stack of subs at a rave?? your missing out!

OP, congrats on your new-found love for the deeper side. Surely your horizons in terms of taste can only grow wider from here.

Opens you up to a whole new variety of underground producers if you mix as well mate. Just remember to always dig deep to find them gems!
