hey everyone, long time lurker but new member =]

this isnt so much a thread about inspiration, more about how you guys keep your morale up as a producer, i know its get really tough for me and theres times when i just cant be bothered anymore, it sucks when your music gets ignored (not on a "i want to be famous and be signed" level, but on a basic "i want feedback and the odd bit of praise and some more god damn plays!!")

Keep at it! You'll get there, I assume you want more plays on soundcloud? I think it was Wub that wrote a really nice soundcloud thread, search it, but another way is to push your sound, the more tracks you comment and give feedback the more criticism will be returned. Just remember not to be pushy and make sure your criticism to others is always constructive!

No one will listen to your tunes if they dont know where to look

Do it because you love music, if it becomes a thing you "Have" to do like with album deadlines and such you'll never get much done or enjoy it at all.

Everyone knows that being an artist is a struggle. My aunt, who is a painter and supports herself financially through her art, says she would never encourage anyone to pursue a career in art because of how cut-throat art can be and how hard it is to make enough money to live comfortably.

My life has turned to real shit lately. I've been dealing with surgery on my wrist, which has kept me out of work for 4 months. I'm living at home because I can't physically hold a job with my wrist. My bills are slowly starting to pile up and now I have my $11,000 school loan to start chipping away at. The one job I was offered won't hire me unless I get a doctor's note saying that I can use my wrist, but he won't give me a note because, by right, I shouldn't be using me wrist at all. I've recently found out that I'm manic depressant and sometimes I don't even want to get myself out of bed in the morning. Whatever, I could go on about my problems forever.

I do get out of bed, though.
That's because I know if I sit down at my computer and mess around with music production, even though I'm not that great at it, it makes me happy and it takes me far the fuck away from my problems.

The fact that I have something like that in my life that can ease my mind to such an extent IS my reason to keep going.

A big soundcloud doesn't really mean too much in the grand scheme of things, there's mentally talented people out there with hardly any plays/followers/coments, and at the same time there's shitters like me with more exposure than actually good musicians. focus on getting your music out to the right people rather than the most.

Mate, if your not feeling it and don't fancy producing. Don't do it, take a break I've done it loads of times, means you come back fresh and you can give your music 100 percent.

On the whole getting listens etc, as was said earlier, get your soundcloud in your sig! Get on and give as much feedback as possible, when people leave comments on my soundcloud I will always check them out. Not sure i'd bother using the dubs for feedback section of DSF though because no one in there seems to be interested in anyone elses work but their own. Really had changed for the worse.
