What are your thoughts on it? I quickly listened it through and I must say, dubstep has progressed. Not sure about "Nefariousa" though, but "Electro West" is a tune.

So, my question is, what is your thought on this newer dubstep? Obviously a lot of the old steppers have taken the good stuff from the brostep(which isn't much) and the good stuff from the old school.

i personally think it's a really good EP.
i mean, they gave it out for free, which is something that is incredible in itself, i love ice cream jelly roll, Mensah dropped it in his b2b getdarker with Dismantle and i fell in love with it, that's my favourite, but large EP.

i think if your second question was what do you think of the EP, the future of this topic might last longer, otherwise it just looks like an attempt to raise the somewhat boring brostep debate.

Nah, I'm not trying to start a debate about brostep, I'm rather trying to start a debate about the newer dubstep. The way I see it, dubstep has divided into three different "sub-genres": the lighter stuff(Hessle Audio, Apple Pips), the dungeon stuff and now Skream and Benga are doing the more harder and electro type of stuff(not brostep). Just like Coki and Kromestar. So, my question was what do people think about this stuff like they're doing!

Because I think that the focus in dubstep has moved from meditate on bassweight to more melodies and stuff. I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea but it's quite interesting imo!

personally, i do like the direction benga and skream are heading, although skream did put something up on his soundcloud the other day that sounded very skrillex-like, which i wasn't a fan of.
big fan of coki/kromestar and the sounds they come up with.

Large EP, and yeah, sorry for being a bit close minded, i didn't even think!

Yeah, he did but I think he realised it's not good I mean, he has a special sound and you know when it's Skream but those tracks weren't "him"

If I like a tune, I will like.

nothing special tbh. ice cream and phat head are alright, but wouldn't buy it. too many high pitched screechy sounds going on there.

Where can I get this EP? I also know that Skream gives out his skreamizms for free, where can I get those? Can't find anything on his soundcloud

you can buy the skreamizms from a record shop or a digital store. the freeizms are pretty easy to find. google will help you.

Pretty meh for me. Too little bass, too much screechy noises.

What about meditating on bass weight while the tune has melody?

I think it's pretty bad. I can understand why it was free.

Yeah I feel you, at least in the traditional sense. Though, for me, the "melodic-ness" of dubstep is what drew me in the first place, taking a broader definition of melodic. For example, "Night" is hella melodic...melodies in the bass, melodies in the drums.

Ice cream is a fave of mine, tho it sounds a bit half-assed.
Any steppas aswell, i just don't know if it's me or it lacks weight a bit. Love the "rockstar" feel it's got w/e
Nefarious is a bit meh, the hook's cheesy imo and the intro doesn't go well with rest of the tune, second drop is okay, the first one is just tooo broish with all those growls and shit
Electro west is an okay tune, maybe the best one out of th EP, but i can't really get into it, since i heard for the first time.
Phat head's aight, though nothing i'll go crazy about.

Overall, i wouldn't buy this, because it's got nothing on the older stuff, but it's a nice freebie anyway

Ice Cream Jelly - not a fan, sounds similar to other skream tunes but not as good
Any Steppers - Good, a bit poppy but still heavy
Nefarious - I like, brostep but still with that dark feel
Electro West - meh, abit bland and housey
Phat Head - best on here, but not amazing. I like the G-funk synths.
I would pay for two maybe 3 tracks.
