I actually thought "My Bloody Valentine" was an emo band before reading OP, now I'm embarassed for being so prejudice as I really f*cking like them!

I've seen MBV twice live, their show in San Francisco was hands down the most amazing show I have ever seen.

The reason everyone thinks My Bloody Valentine are an emo band is because they confuse them with that pile of shite Bullet For My Valentine. Because of that band I always have to ready my self with an explanation, much like with dubstep, when I tell people I like MBV. They probably give the best rock show of any existing band today, though I've only seen them the once. Like dubstep, they need to be heard on more than laptop speakers to be fully appreciated. 11+ mins version of I Only Said was mindblowing. Also, every track on every release since You Made Me Realise has been first class. I'm still waiting for the 'new' album that has been in limbo for 20 years.

I only came to suggest A Place To Bury Strangers, probably my favourite live act ever, and Oliver Ackermann is a seriously sound guy.
"I Know I'll See You" is one of my fave songs ever.

I think most new shoegaze is quite boring (except for a few bands such as Experimental Aircraft), but you can't go wrong with old school shoegazing..

Woah man, that's my favorite Slowdive tune. Mad underrated.
Like.. "classic shoegaze" wise, I only like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Most shoegaze is really shitty gimmick rock where songwriting is replaced by decent drones. But, there's like a lot of shoegaze influenced shit out there that kicks major ass. Like Bark Psychosis
Seeing MBV live was as close to a religious experience as I'll ever get.

They probably will when the new record is done. Don't worry man, 20 years fly by faster than you think!
