Had a crack at making a neuro style bass today because i'd just got the demo of FabFilter Volcano, and i've gotta say, anyone having trouble making this style of bass...GET THIS FILTER!

I'm absolutley loving it! Been playing around with it for about 2 hours now and i've had some pretty cool sounds out of it, i've put a little demo together below.

Soundcloud

Re-sampled it once (first real go at that too!)

Anyway just wanted to share because i know a few people have asked about how to make this bass, get this filter and mess about with it. That's what i did and it's like something clicked and i understand now haha. :D

How to create the crispyness/clarity in your reese's!? :/

I can dial a good reese down but in no way can I get it to move like that, I've got the hang of LFO and other parameters for modulation but it always sounds 'dirty' and grimey, it still sounds cool but I want to get a clean warping reese like this, can someone please help me, I've been trying all year... Thanks so much to anyone who can help..

trying to get something that sounds like the 'percussive' synth that comes in at 1:01 for the first time....

thinking somethin along the lines of a square, maybe modulated, with a quick attack release cutoff env over it.. though i'm really not too sure

Okay now i have chance to type up a quick explanation of that sound and upload the patches :P

So i opened a reese i'd been messing about with in z3ta and decided to stick that filter (Volcano2) on it and just started playing about with the LFO and Bandpass filter and i started getting a bit of movement that i liked, so i just kept tweeking and i eventually got a sound i really liked. Then i just drew in a few notes and automated the LFO and the LFO Balance to get some cool twisty, neuro sounds. I recorded and cut up a few parts that sounded really good then exported them, brought them back into FL and started playing with the pitch, POGO, ADSR, reverse...etc, then stuck them into the pattern sequencer and started EQing, adding chorus, reverb, stereo imaging and like 10% flanger. That's pretty much it though, i'll probably export the sounds again and put them through another time to see what else i can do but it's actually pretty simple and fun once you have a solid sound to start with.

So that explanation is probably complete bollocks because i'm crap at explaining myself lol. But if you have anything in particular you wanna know just ask. Oh, and the reese patch is actually just a modified version of a patch i found on DOA a while back, can't remember who's it is though.

So the bass that comes in at 1:50 and on, the main "wobble" of the song...

It sounds like a square wave... it has that hollowness to it. Maybe some detuned squares stacked and lowpassed??

and also that IMPACT it makes BOOM BOOM BOOM-BOOM

furrrk shit is awesome someone enlighten me please

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and to electronic music production in general. I'd like to know how to create a sound that is akin to the screeching of tyres but with added vibrato. The sound I'm looking for also sounds like a vibrato bend with ("artificial") harmonics on an electric guitar with distortion/overdrive. I'm using NI Massive.

Thanks in advance.
