Transferring Logic files to a harddisk?

I hope this doesn't sound too retarded but it's a bit of a specific question.
I recently got myself a harddrive for backups but also for making space on my laptop by moving my sample library + logic/audio files onto it. It's an fairly good 50gb that will be removed from my computer... hopefully it will make everything run a little better.
The problem is, when I've previously moved audio files around (particularly in the sample library) after opening a project it has told me I need to manually locate the audio files again. It doesn't happen every time I move a file so I'm uncertain to why this happens.
If I move my whole logic/sapmle library onto the disk, will this happen? I'm afraid that for every single project i open, I'm going to have to find every single audio file again I've used in them. Can someone explain to me why this happens? Thanks!

i'm guessing its because logic is going to those files to load up the sound, so if you move them its not gonna find them it self cos there not where you told it.
You could go looking through the preference, see if theres a way for it to look on the externalHD but i'm not sure and it might be a case of doing it manually

If you "save as" and include all audio samples to project folder it should keep em there, i think

yeah you need to include all assets when saving your logic files (its a tickbox when you save) This saves so much hassle when opening your projects on different computers or backing up
