Im guessing you wrote "silly brostep" because you didn't want to look small compared to all the guys that will bag the video out while drinking tea and eating crumpets and say 'oh spew, what is that rubbish, that isn't real dubstep'.
No offence but this forum is full of them lol. I like it sometimes when I come across normal guys that accept producers for what they do and not bag out others for 'being too mainstream' or 'having long hair and looking like a homophobe.' or 'are shit' because they have nothing true to say :D

Anyway, back on the point, that video was heaps cool! :D

Most people on here don't dislike brostep because it's mainstream. They dislike it based on the music itself. The SBTRKT album is pretty mainstream but got a lot of love on here. I could also chuck Burial and James Blake into a sentence with people my age (ok not so much now I'm in Oz) and expect them to know what I'm talking about which certainly means they're not underground anymore. Even within brostep certain tracks are more accepted by the DSF community. The Future and Chainsaw Caligraphy spring to mind even though I dislike the latter. It's not some elitist conspiracy against the mainstream, it's just most brostep isn't liked by a lot of people here.

Garuntee you if nobody on here had heard of Skrillex because he was underground and someone posted some random youtube clip of one of his song, a lot of people on here will be like Mind = Blown 'that shit is amazing'.
Dislike what i said all you want and disagree all you want too for i will not care. I'm just saying, I promise you that would happen. But I guess we will never see that happen will we :D

The only people who would be saying 'mind=blown' would be those on here who like his stuff anyway. A lot of his fans consider themselves to be against the mainstream by liking him just like the fans of his band before that. Once again I will tell you that most people on here are not against the mainstream itself. There's stuff more extreme than him in brostep that is plain fucked up, could be considered underground and is not liked by the people on this forum.

dude if you seriously think that then you are a moron. it's like me saying 'ah you only listen to a tune because the title's got some kind of violent filthy subject matter' if skrillex's songs were called raindrop mountain or buttercup lane then you wouldn't listen to them because they would be totally gay :6:

 So you've just ignored every comment afterwards that refuted this. Nice one. Let's get down to the root of the issue here. When people first hear something labelled dubstep these days there is a good chance it will be Skrillex or some brostep artist. They really like this new dubstep that they've heard and they find more and more on youtube. They then decide the youtube comments will not do, they want to discuss it on a forum. So they type 'dubstep forum' into Google. Guess what comes up? I'll give you a hint, it's not UKF Forum. So once they're here they take a look at some of the topics in General Discussion, they seem kind of boring as they don't know who Youngsta is or what <insert latest massive release (Eyes VIP atm)> sounds like. The massive stickied one with Skrillex's name catches their eye and so they go in there and start reading. They're horrified at all the hatred of their new beloved artists and don't know why all these tracks like Bass Cannon they've just discovered are labelled 'brostep.' They then decide, well all the 'normal people' like my stuff so these guys must be elitist twats.

The reality of the situation is that the stickied Skrillex thread is probably where you'll catch the worst side of some of the forum members here along with a few headstrong fans arguing back endlessly in a neverending shitstorm. But really it has kind of ended. Those topics linked in there have not been bumped in a while. Skrillex still gets mentioned but most posters here are rather apathetic to it all now, certainly very few are angry unless your name is iramdubstep. When you look at the various appreciation threads and release discussions it quickly becomes apparent that the average dubstepforum user is more passionate about music than the average member of the public as a whole. If that makes us elitist then I'm proud to be so.

I'm unlocking this, if you want to carry the age old argument of who's allowed to like what music and state what opinion then go here: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=229034

Any further derailing will be removed.
