I made a sub bass in massive in ableton. It is a pure sine wave with no resonance on it and that is it. It has this really high pitch ringing over it, kind of like what soundcloud does when your sub bass is overloading the track. However, there is nothing overloading. My master track is down low and it is peaking well below the limit on its channel. I tried switching massive to operator and the ringing sound persisted.

I am 99% sure that the problem is ableton. I loaded the same sub bass in FL studio and there was no ringing, only thick bassy goodness. What is wrong with my ableton?!

Never mind, I just figured it out! I have a Saffire 6 audio card and the sound output was set to Wave instead of DX, in case anybody else is having a similar problem.

i've been having this problem (not in ableton) and its driving me insane. i thought i just fucked up my headphone or worse, my ears

but i just changed some output settings like you said and now...the ringing is gone!!!
