WHEN you used to ask any 'self-respecting' footballer what their favourite music was, they would probably reply Phil Collins.
No longer. Today's stars veer between garage and house, grime and jungle.
Here, SunSport gives you the lowdown on what gets Premier League tootsies tapping.
GRIME
IS a style of music that evolved from East London in the early 2000s using music sequencers and rapping.
The leading artists include Dizzee Rascal and Wiley. There is also an artist called Giggs.
GARAGE
ELECTRONIC dance music originated in the UK in the 90s using synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines.
Top artists include Sweet Female Attitude, Tina Moore, PJ Luck and MC Neat.
HOUSE
ORIGINATED in Chicago in the United States in the mid-80s.
Electronic dance music using repetitive beats and rhythms. Leading artists include Daft Punk and Justice. But artists like Madonna have incorporated the music in their work.
HIP-HOP
RAPPING with rhythmic beats and record 'scratching'. Evolved in the 1970's in New York, most notably The Bronx. Leading artists include Jay Z, Eminem and Run DMC.
JUNGLE
ALSO referred to by some as Drum and Bass. It is a mixture of funk, hip-hop and reggae.
It has different styles, including Hardcore Jungle, with influences from the rave scene, and Intelligent Jungle which is more moody. Leading artists include Pendulum, Calyx and Cyantific.
