Hey Guys- googled this but not finding what I'm looking for... can anyone point me in the direction for a good site/article that outlines ways in which to get your laptop up to scratch (in terms of performance) in preparation for use live.

Don't know any sites, but i can think of a few things. Disabling any power saving schemes would be a good start, disabling screen savers too. Turn off wifi, antivirus, automatic updates, pretty much anything you're not going to use. Disable scheduled degrags, in fact defrag before the show just to make sure the hdd files are in an optimal condition.

Fix any glitches now and check for reliability. i.e if you had a problem with a usb audio interface that you'll be using for the performance, update the drivers now and make sure its working ok. also check things like power cables, battery are all ok and not going to cause a problem.

what OS are you running?

windows boxes should be tweaked ALOT to gain performance and keep resources low. Turning services off from the get go can be a huge step in the right direction. Also make sure you dont update before a show unless you are having issues. Turn Wifi off so you dont connect to some hotspot during your set and start downloading updates lol

On my MBP i dont/have not done any prep... except i do a shutdown before i travel to the venue and i dont power on until my whole rig is plugged in. USB Power RCAs everything is plugged in before i even think about powering up the laptop. This has worked really well for me.

I usually have the CPU focus on background tasks rather than actual programs. This basically enhances your drivers
stability (in my case the audio 8 driver).
