Slime Recordings is a little label for loud music. Dedicated to showcasing the best new artists from around the globe and driven by a passion for discovering incredible new music, the label celebrates the new year with a retrospective compilation of all it's releases so far - 'Basswave'. Featuring 24 tracks of varied sounds and styles from the label's archives, it is available exclusively through Bandcamp only for the special price of £5. Showcasing a complete disregard for any one genre, the compilation swings from the sublime ambient garage of Powder Hill and Kontigo into the post-dubstep explorations of En Neem, Winsile and Eyelove before hitting the dancefloor hard with tough dubstep remixes from Phaeleh and UKF re-rubs from Hybu. If it's four to the floor that you're craving then soak up the bumpy goodness from [sic], Tricky Strutt and Kallendar taking you through minimal techno, west coast flavours and deep house styles. Experimental tastes are catered for through the narcotic disco of Dognoize, the UKF/Dubstep hybrids of Dekoyand Materia or the italo madness of Antoni Maiovvi backed by the emo acid flash of Jeeroj. To bring the party to a standing ovation check the melodic 2-step vibes of I Wannabe and Made, before the uplifting anthems of Partyson, Sentinels and Submerse raise the roof. This is an essential release for forward-thinking music fans worldwide and a perfect sampler of the label's amazing output. If you don't know, get to know.

Wicked review of the compilation courtesy of Loudat:
Boundaries in dance music are continually blurring as the genres collide, swell and splinter into endless sub-categories each with increasingly estoric titles and ever shortening lifespans. Post gargage, future dubstep, just-before-tea-time- breakbeat, navel gazing liquid tnuc-step. You name it and before you can even stake a claim to inventing another pigeon hole into which to shoehorn your musical preference some twat will have dismissed it as old hat. Old Hat Step.

Thank heavens then for Slime Recordings whose musical agenda is refreshingly broad and forward thinking. You couldn’t really accuse Slime of carving a niche for themselves because by the time you’ve noticed the niche Slime Recordings seem to have already been there, had a cup of tea, doffed its cap and continued to frolic merrily towards dance music’s event horizon. Why stick around when there’s more to explore?

Profiling the diverse talent under the Slime Recordings label this 24 track compilation glimpses the future of the dance music. From the glossy, scattering 2-step of Submerse to the gurgling effervescence of Archie Pelago the next phase of the future dubstep sound is neatly hypothesised. The creeping acid infection is accurately predicted by Jeeroj and Marion with Materia already miles ahead of the game with tech edged breaks of Core Foundation.

The Slime Recordings “Bass Wave” album is proof positive of new planes in electronic music yet to be explored. Exciting, refreshing, forward thinking. The best 5 quid you’ll spend.
