At least.

Once you've improved your workflow, then you can work on sound design.

Bullshit.

Make a few audio projects every hour. Use them for nothing. Write one siiiick EP every quarter. Promote it like hell.

Matter of discipline. The habit builds and the skill increases.

I feel like I should spend alot longer on something then a week regardless... EP every quarter, pour your everything into em, promote em hard, people will like you more.

a tune a week is a good start.

at the root of this is the fact that you're not a producer if you don't produce anything.

A weeks time is plenty, often times i need to turn one out in an evening
this is very good advice though. just for the mindset of realistic goal setting & completion
a tune's project file is worthless to 99% of the world
once you get it down to 2track, then you've got something

i agree that it is a good idea to focus heavily on arrangment and finishing songs the sound design will come along the way. if you can't actually write a tune your teebee clone bassline is pretty worthless. Imo a well arranged and writen tune can make up for a lack of interesting sounds.

I don't have time - as hard as I try, it's incredibly hard at the moment to find time to produce music.

Every spare second I have, though....I'm on it.

i wish people cared
i guess in theory if people liked a track, then by extension they care about the fact it was created
but still... not many people have much interest in its life as a project file

I make an 8 bar loop a day, always trying to use different techniques I've never done before.

At the end of the year, you can have 52 tracks. People ask "What did you do in 2012?" and I send them a ZIP file 8)

I like that. Nice and simple., But for me, If im not feelin a groove its sound design time and cleaning up samples files etc until a song or groove jumps in.. Strike when iron is hot
