Well i've been DJing dubstep for a while and i have a couple sets that i was going to purplish for free on soundcloud (and a few videos on youtube) but i dont know how to publicize my music or mixs to a larger audience! How would you advertise or showcase your work on the internet if you were me?

i'll post my mix i currently finished when its done uploading to soundcloud!

everything is about networking. be friends with lots of producers / DJs, put a mix online, ask em to have a look, they'll drop some comments, their followers will now have your mix at the top of their feeds, so some of them will listen, some of them will comment, and the cycle continues.

Produce your own music(dubstep) and make sure it's quality stuff and it'll all go good from there. Mixing is kind of something of the past. No one's is amazed by it anymore. All producers are DJ's. All Dj's aren't producers.

DJ's nowadays is pretty much a good comparison of how many kids have xboxs. Everyone has an xbox. Everyone Dj's. Step yo game up fool!

i can't speak from experience of being well known to the public or anything, but i know it's hard work, just keep sharing your links to your soundclouds etc, people will listen, if they like, they will share, more people might listen, they might like, they might share etc, it's a rolling ball, takes a while to kick off, but it's a start.

networking ofcourse aswell, which is pretty similar.
good luck mate.

Selection, selection, selection.

I'd rather hear a mix that has some interesting choices but not necessarily the best mixing (but still to a decent standard), than a stale mix full of fully rinsed tunes with perfect mixing. I know everybody doesn't feel that way, that's just me.

Obviously I'd rather hear an interesting selection with perfect mixing

Just too many tracklists looking the same nowadays. Make sure yours stands out.

rule number one is that you gotta have something no one else have. that means you gotta have special tunes that big time (or otherwise interesting) producers send you or you have to have your own (quality) tunes. this is of course if you want to make it in the game

if you only want peoples comments make a solid nice mix and put it on mixcloud.com. then spam spam spam to get comments

Tune selection > Mixing

I'm willing to forgive a couple of slips if the tunes are bang on point, but if it's identikit Now Thats What I Call Dubstep! selections that I've heard a million times before, even the greatest mixing trickery can't save it.

And make sure your ID3 tags are done properly. Hate finding a wicked mix tucked away in my downloads folder that's just called mix1.mp3 with no clue as to where it's come from or who it's by.
