right im pretty new to music production and ive got stuck along the way
atm im only using fruity loops but soon i shud have hold of reason.
my problem is that: ive download a bunch of different VSTs & ive managed to get FL to locate them etc & i can open them up in FL but i have no idea how to actually use them and get them to make a sound..
could someone tell me step by step what to do or add me on msn and basically walk me through it?

also i dont understand alot of the 'lingo' so to speak

if you can open up the VSTi's ok in FL but they're not making any sounds when you play a note on your keyboard or draw one in on the grid then you probably have to connect a midi track to the vsti. get a new midi track and look for something to do with output on the track, see if the vsti is there to select.

might work, sorry i don't know FL but that's how it works in cubase

vst doesn't work with reason by the way so don't try too hard

Ok easy dude.. If you have the synth loaded in the step-sequencer your half done (i just call it the synth or instrument rack) Select a channel on your playlist grid (i have a template that pre-names channels. Ie first 10 are Kick channels, 10 Snare, 10 Hats, 10 Percus, 10Atmos, 10 Melodys, 10 Bass. This just helps with separation of sounds.. And easier on the eye and brain in the long run..) Right click the synths name on the step-sequencer and select piano-roll.. Draw a few notes and make a loop.. Go back to playlist.. Draw in loops.. Hit space.. PM me if your still stuck..
