Uh. Any Noobies Wanna Watch Me Produce? (Teamviewer idea)

Hey guys Noobies and Pros at producing,

There's this program called Teamviewer which lets you view other peoples computer screens/control them(if you're chosen too by the host) and I was wondering if anyone was interested in downloading this and joining my "session" later because I'm teaching a friend partially on Ableton on what I know thus far then FL Studio. He's a total noob starting from step-1 but he lives in a different city because of college so that's why I'm using Teamviewer with him.

Teamviewer allows you to make a conference "call" pretty much like skype but you view peoples computer screens instead when they invite you(it's in full screen also) Then there's a choice to control the persons computer yourself which is pretty nuts & I think file sharing is easy to do on there as well. You can use a mic and also put up a webcam video at the same time. As the host of the conference call. You can use the "whiteboard" to draw on your screen or their screen if allowed too(To focus on whatever etc.)

To the 2nd point! I think this should be a weekly thing done on dubstepforum! I've seen a thread on doing a live webcam producing thing before but this is way more advanced/straight to the point! It will help users of all DAWs and would be so helpful on teaching people how to resample/EQ/song structures for your favored genres.

I think there should be a time where your session will be on/off with the ID+password to join. Tutorials for dark/jungle tunes/chiptunes/brostep/grunge/hip hop etc.

However I seem to find a con to this whole thing. You might be able to mess up someones computer if you were enabled to control after you still have there ID+Password? Can someone clear this up for me? Whoever has this program.

I use Teamviewer very frequently and the password changes every time you restart the program, and are you paying for the program or using the free license? With the free license you can only connect 1 to 1, and if you don't completely trust the person you can mess up their stuff with the file transfer I think, not sure if you can change this in settings. Good program to teach people with though!

Oh I'm using the free license....are you sure it's only 1 to 1? I swear it said I can go up to 10 people with the free-license conference call. I'll check real quick though. It's a sick program indeeeeeeeedy!

Also I never found a way to get the audio to work in Teamviewer? I always had to have another skype call running underneath, I still do that.

"Maximum Connections

Maximum number of connections: unlimited*

*TeamViewer does not place a limit on the number of people who can connect to and view a single desktop. However, it does place a limit on how many desktops you can connect out to" <=== From there website

So if 1 person was hosting... unlimited people can watch right? But if you want people to see your desktop and also see theirs then it's only 1 to 1? Am I thinking this correctly?

Also for the audio it's only in the presentation option you can use it I think.

how about using ustream.tv?

think it has unlimited viewers, and people dont have to sign up to see vid.

Deadmau5 used it once .. broadcasted his production sesh

splashtop is the best for this, it is at 30fps, no lag and high res with clear sound. also its dead simple to setup.
only thing is the viewer has to have an android or iphone/ipad etc to view it.

Deadmau5 used it more than once, he does periodic ustreams.

@OP - I would absolutely be interested in pursuing this idea. If you are just doing it by yourself, fine, do me the favor of PMing me when you are going to do it so I can sign on. However, I think an even better idea is to contact the DSF team about this and have it be something like a weekly thing, perhaps experienced members of each DAW could do their own one if they felt like it.

I only use Teamviewer to help people get software working. I don't think it'd have good enough quality to watch someone produce. Maybe it's just my PC

Well....I think it'll be the most boring thing to watch me produce because it takes me forever to do everything lol....I don't know if anyone would be interested but for whomever else wants to do that they can.

Someone should contact the dsf team and make it an official thing. That'd be cool.

If anyone wants to watch me attempt a crappy song in a little bit they are more than welcome to watch.
