Loving Dubstep in America

I love listening to dubstep, but living in America (the Midwest to be exact) can be a bit irritating at times. I'm excited to see dubstep become more listened to over here, however, it seems that everybody is only interested in the brostepping ass midrange noise. I have yet to meet anyone into the deep and darker side of the genre (ie. Biome, Sleeper, Sp:Mc, Lurka, Kryptic Minds, etc.). Does anybody have a similar situation?

Similar enough situation for me here in Limerick, Ireland, in that very few of my closer friends have decent taste in music period.

Same everywhere in US for the most part, finally have just recently met some heads round SF really into the same sounds as me, trying and hoping for a monthly night dedicated to the sound... I would be so happy.

Macronite had Loefah over recently and he finished up with his Outlook set. Dubculture and Dubblebass guys played before him and played some serious tunes. Look out for their Paddys day line up. Apparently something big is coming. System is proper weighty as well. Eye lid shaking business.

This is true around the world though.

I don't know if this is how it is, but this perception that a lot of people in the uk that listen to electronic music are listening to Digital Mystikz, Biome, KM, etc. is far from true! The casual music listener in the UK will listen to the same as the US, and the trend hopper in the UK will listen to the same as the US.

It's shit everywhere, that's why I rarely talk about music outside of a few select friends.

i live literally 20 odd minutes out of london, and alot of my mates listen to crap aswell.
got a certain group of frineds that are into the same thing, but ive got alot of other friends who are into music just as much as me, just different styles....

its nothing to do with where you are, its just life !

If all your friends dont listen to the exact same music that you do, kill yourself. Probably nothing to live for.

I'm definitely in a similar situation. I'm from Indianapolis and I don't know a single person who identifies with my musical tastes until I play out/ put out a mix that people actually listen to. It's kind of disappointing, but refreshing when you play out your favorite tunes and someone really notices and appreciates what you're doing; spreading the sound of amazing tunes. It's enough to keep me going at least...

I feel you on that. My friends will tell that the songs are too empty and boring. Sometimes I wish I could get into the midrange noise just so I can have people to talk about it with. For now I'll stay my ass on DSF

If you ever get a chance, definitely check out Chicago. Specifically this place called "Smart Bar". Truth played their a couple of months ago.
