Internet is blowing up with youtube vids and forum posts and shit on this sound that is occurring all across the globe

There seems to be a huge amount of reports of this sound across the world around mid-August 2011. And all of a sudden in the past several days news of this has just been BLOWING UP on the internet. Apparently because a big one just happened in Costa Rica.

I've never heard anything. West coast USA here.

I initially thought viral marketing, but the second video I linked dates back to March 2011. I doubt they would wait almost a year for a marketing gimmick..

But I'm wondering: have any of you heard a noise like this?

Thats weird I was watching that video then when it finished I heard that noise outside opened the window and listened....

There's definitely some weird stuff going on.

The whole earth's naturally resonating with a 7.8Hz rumble anyway (the Schumann Resonance), maybe it's just suddenly been amplified?

lol bollocks, the vast majority of the sounds in these videos don't fit properly. these shitty video cameras appear to be pretty good at capturing low end frequencies.

Hard to say, a truck passes my house every 2 minutes in the afternoon

Felt an earthquake for the first time last year though, quite rare for the Netherlands.

good point. there's a dude on that reddit thread that analyses the spectrum of the audio on the videos and some of them are really obviously faked.
