As many people here I'm sure know, samples have a tendency to take up a lot of space on your computer's drive. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to keep samples on a seperate external drive or if they are best being kept on the internal drive. Is there anyone that stores their samples externally?

* This should be in the production forum
Most people do I'd say. I do and I have the extra special folders backed up to DVD.

i never understood the benefit of DVD's over just an extra HD..
is that so you have the ability to load them up without any cables if you need to?
ease of storage/protection?
you just like 'em?
inquiring minds......

HDs fail. Even back up ones you've put stuff on and put back in their box. DVDs in a good zip case. Safe as houses

Thanks everyone for the feedback

I think I put my samples on the external disk then. I'm going to try something new and copy the disk to the cloud too just so that they are in 2 places in case something happens
