Also, what are your opinions on the US remaking British shows, and vice versa?

I get it when things in a different language are re-made to suit an audience that doesn't want to read subtitles. But the US really needs to expand its world view a bit and just broadcast British shows rather than Americanise everything.
Its not like TV producers in Britain and the rest of the world thought they should re-make Friends, or the Simpsons, or Baywatch or Frasier so that the British audience would get it, people can understand a slightly different accent and culture.
In fairness I think the reason they do remakes of British shows is because historically British shows get poor ratings when they are shown over there. Make of that what you will. But as has been said some things just will not translate over very well. Shameless was another one I was like wtf about when I heard.

I thought they remade foreign films because they refuse to read subtitles or have anything other than the way they want it.

The best british shows get poor ratings in britain too, thats why they are usually commissioned by Channel 4 rather than ITV or stuck on BBC2 away from the mainstream audience who write dumb complaint letters.

I hope there is a Father Ted remake where they are banished to some island in central America for kiddy diddling so some catholics get all up in arms and offended. Then I hope it gets cancelled.
I remember there was a remake of The Young Ones starring Nigel Planer haha!
I never saw it though , it probably didn't last a week.

It'd help the world just a little bit more.
The US would not get Only Fools and Horses in the slightest.

It's pretty simple. Aside from cultural humor/topical differences, a lot of british shows are filled with rather unattractive people. Filling a cast with less talented, better looking actors is a trade off that does quite well for ratings in the states. even concerning characters who are meant to be ugly, the US differentiates between tv ugly and plain ugly, whereas the UK not so much.
lol forgot about Geordie Shore. Never seen either of those, hope it stays that way.
Married with Children is the best series on that list. Was Married For Life any good? Never saw it.

So why do a scene for scene remake with the same or similar looking people.
