Hey guys,

Just a quick question. I'm putting together a track in Reason right now. Got a pretty nasty beat and sub-bass to go with it so far. My only problem is that the bass drum of my beat seems to make the bassline tremble (like...wobble, it sounds really nasty). I'm fairly sure turning down the volume on my kick drum fixes the problem but I don't particularly want to do that (I like my bass drums to hit hard). Anyone have any suggestion as to how else I could remedy this?

Sounds like the low frequencies in your kick are clashing with the sub bass. Have you tried cutting out frequencies below like 80 or 90 in your kick with an eq? That should do the trick if not upload a sample of it so people can hear it.

Turn down all your tracks, including the kick drum.

The two frequencies are fighting for headroom control. Drop the sub bass a good -4db to -6db from the kick and sidechain it.

This, and sidechain the sub a little bit to the kick.

the same thing happens when you play two notes of a sine wave at low frequencies. your kick and sub are phasing. try taking some low end off your kick

Yeah turning the sub down a little and sidechaining it seems to have worked. I have a suspicion that my speakers being shit probably adds to the confusion (good ones are currently boxed up unfortunately :/). Thanks a lot guys!
