There is a clap/snare in the back of my acapella at about 3.5-4.5k, is there a particularly effective way of removing this? A de-esser or something? I can eq it a bit, but it takes some of the life out of the vocal

Automate the EQ to only get rid of the frequency when that snare hits? And mask it with effects or percusive hits?

if it's a sampled snare, maybe you could get a hit without any vocals over it, inverse the phase and add it back in to cancel out the original? would that work?

nah cos youd have to phase everything apart from the snare first which would be even harder
