Best House Tunes?

Hey all,

So this is my first ever post on the house forum. House is a genre that I know embarassingly little about, but I would like to find out more about.
It would be great if some house fans could recommend me some tunes.

I'm coming from a deep dubstep sort of background, I really love the dark/dungeon vibe of artists like Kryptic Minds, Icicle, and Distance as well as the deep and melodic tunes from artists like Mala, Phaeleh, Dark Sky and the rest.

The only house artist that I've had any experience with is Deadmau5 (don't hate me).

I like Strobe and Faxing Berlin by him, but I'm really not a fan of any of his newer stuff.

Anyways, thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Looking at anything that isnt Deadmau5 is probably a good start.

If you are looking for progressive house, then unfortunately I dont really have much knowledge of this kinda house.

If youre looking for just general house recomendations then have a look at the following:-
Jon Convex
Art Department
Mak & Pasteman
Squarehead
Maya Jane Coles
Tom Middleton
Breach
Anything on the Dirtybird, Hypecolour, Future Boogie Labels are decent places to start too.

And three months before you were listening to Skrillex and Deadmau5. I mean, I applaud that you have turned away from the darkside, but "background", that's far-fetched. Just hope you aren't changing scenes again. Only 3 months into dubstep you know, better take your time.

Check out stuff on the following Labels (not strictly house labels, I'll leave those for the experts, but certainly relevant in some way)

3024
50weapons
Idle Hands
Project Squared
Hotflush Two
Ramp recordings
D:Vision
R&S
Rush-Hour
NakedLunch
NonPLus
Pattern
Local Action
LuckyMe
DVA
Hyperdub
AUS Music
CONVEX
Future Boogie
PMR

that should keep you busy for another month :U:

Yeah I know "background" isn't the best way to describe it, but basically what I mean is that's the music that I like. And yes, as I've said, I did listen to Skrillex, I got bored, I do not listen to him anymore. :4:

Thanks for the suggestions! And I'm not planning on "switching scenes," just more expanding my knowledge of EDM as a whole.

Thanks!
I liked the first one
The second one was okay
The third one was cheesy, but I'm embarrassed to say I liked it a lot, the percussion reminded me of something almost burial-esque.

@everyone else - thank you for the suggestions! I'm checking out all of these right now!

Deep house is where it's at. And as far as deep house goes, there's no one who does it better than Kerri Chandler. His essential mix from 2006 is my favourite mix ever, I keep coming back to it at least once every two months. Check it if you're interested, I'm sure it's still floating around somewhere.

Couple of tracks I've been caning lately, who remembers this classic?

Acid house vibes on this one:

Good stuff in the bass music scene as well, but I don't want to make an even bigger post.

The first one's pretty good, I liked the general feel

I really loved the second one, feeling the jazzy vibes there

I liked the third one a lot, cool vocals

The last "acid house" one didn't really do it for me, to be honest

But those middle two were awesome :U: and the first one was pretty good

Regardless, as I said, I really liked it. It just sounded a bit cheesy to me

Kiki from King Midas Sound covered this over a Villalobos beat.

I recommend this mix for some classic house tune. Also just anything by MK or Chez Damier.

I also second the Kerri Chandler shout, everything he does is great. Like this one:

Also check Anthony "Shake" Shakir.

This release is essential.

Fuck wheather or not you listen or listened to Skrillex or Deadmau5 or Spice girls for that matter. Music is music, people like what they like, The vast majority of people mentioned in here are of the new school, ive been into house for many years the 90's early 2000's were ''My'' years. I dont really listen to a great deal of house music now, much more into Funk/Dub Reggae/Brasil*/Hip Hop....

But Id Recommend...

Kerri Chandler
Carl Craig
Ben Watt
Larry Heard
Jazznova
Kenny Dope
Dj Romain
Theo Parrish
Gregory
Dennis Ferrer
Frankie Knuckles
Richie Hawtin
Joe Claussell
Osunlade
Danny Krivit
Villalobos
Mood II Swing
Miguel Migs
Spen & Karizma
Linkwood
Ame
