Oh the irony of putting on huge concerts all across the world to highlight the issues of climate change. Wonder what the energy bill is?

sorry you're wrong mate. it's a nearly 75% bio friendly event. the background for the stages are used oil drums or used tires, the stage itself is reclaimed lumber, all the lights are bio friendly.

* Venue offices, walkways, etc will be optimized to use as little electricity as possible.
* The entire production design will follow sustainable light design principles. Production lighting will include the use of LED light bulbs, signage will be produced from recycled or agricultural materials, and some tickets will be integrated with public transportation access and green messaging.
* Live Earth staff and artist air travel will be offset through carbon credits
* Ground travel will be hybrid or high-efficiency vehicles, where possible.

Nice of the event to be so eco friendly. I wonder how the 100s of thousands of people attending these events will be getting there and back.

No ones gonna be driving there surely.

Check it. Seckle has some good counter arguments, so far, but what about this link here?
"The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher."

No need to be sorry, I did wonder whether this was the case. Besides all the posturing and soundbite's by these celebrities on issues they dont understand is enough to make me angry as it is. I bet all these celebrities wont be using renewable energy when they're on tour.

Come off it mate this has got to be hype
"biodiesel" is just as bad for the environment as any other fuel, if not worse
those stacks don't run themselves now do they?

This live earth is a load of bollocks. The moral principle is good but it will make fuck all difference. Until China and the US sign up to the carbon treaty we can all be as green as we like but it wont have any significant effect. Joss Stone, Madonna et al can go fuck themselves. I never heard them bleating on about planting a tree 10 years ago. Now that its socially fashionable to be green or should i say be 'seen to be green' every mofo is jumping on the band wagon. David Cameron coming out with vote blue and go green. Yeah whatever mate.
All these pop stars are interested in is keeping there profile up and selling records. All the people going to these events are interested in is having a good time and seeing sting and ooohhh the black eye peas keeping gangsta. Oh yeah and by the way its for the environment init so theres the feel good factor for ya.
What use was live 8, did it change anything? So no one in Africa is starving anymore and all we had to do is go see Madonna. Ahh it makes me feel all warm inside.
I just wish there were more problems in the world so i could go to a concert and help solve them.
