everyone just needs to watch the movie "paris is burning"
the whole vogue thing fits right in with the other little 1980s tip everyone's been on lately...namely all that acid house-inspired stuff.
late 80s seem to be getting dredged up a lot these days.
also: any time you hear words like "serve", "walk", "sickening", "realness", "cunty", "ball", and "gag" you are hearing direct influence from the Harlem ballroom (cf. gay/drag) scene that peaked in the 1980s. if you ever watch the show "RuPaul's Drag Race" (basically a drag queen reality tv competition) you will hear these repeated often and loudly.

I had real trouble getting into it at first, now I'm all over it. Souljazz has that new compilation out as well.

Because pitched down vocals saying things that sound like they could've been said in an upscale club in the 80s are the popular thing for the next 6 months b2b videos with cut up snippets of unrelated scenes cut from various VHS. Rinse and repeat.

everyones always referencing paris is burning when ballroom is brought up but that film is more about cultural identity than the actual ballroom movement

It's a fleeting hipster aneurysm IMO
Much like those fuvking unrelated random VHS edits stnuc make - which completely devalues anyone who was into that kind of thing and reuse of untapped VHS lols. Prob the same guy who came up the idea of using hipster girls on 'uk house bass' cousin of the originator of triangles and 'space scenes'
