Not dubstep I know, but what is. Just wanted to get an idea of the amount of people that are completely obsessed with Boards Of Canada like myself. Also has anyone drawn the contrasts between Burial's sounds being so specific to inner city environments and Boards Of Canada being so specific to countryside and little english villages and folklore oddities, it's almost as if Burial is Boards Of Canada of the future in the vibes they both give off. I'm probably just waffling.

But yeah who's a love of BoC and also who's heard about the new double album that has been (sort of not really) announced by Peter Serafinowicz on BBC6??

"I’m gonna play some Board of Canada now. I’m a bit of a Boards of Canada evangelist. They’re my favorite band, I think. Maybe them and The Beatles. But, they are a band, again, a bit like The Fall. It’s like once you get into them, or rather, once something clicks you just wanna hear everything they’ve released. This track I’m gonna play, it’s from their last full album, which is The Campfire Headphase from 2005. They’ve got a new album coming out soon and I think it’s gonna be a double album and I’m so excited, I really am-to hear their new one. Um, I just love them."

when i first heard burial i thought he was an urban boards of canada haha

i have everything theyve done cept for the stuff they gave their mates

my most treasured boards release is the aquarius 7" with chinook on the flip

I was obsessed with them for years lol. Its still ahead of its time. Burial might sample a couple of BOC bits. Same mood really.

Exactly man! I never really seen anyone drawing those comparisons publicly, good to know people are on the same wavelength. Ahh man I envy you, I have In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country on vinyl and Geogaddi on CD, trying to sniff out some of their rarities. Hoping this "double album" will be released on vinyl, will surely be a treasure

And yeah I've often wondered if Burial himself draws any influence from Boards Of Canada, he's never mentioned them in interviews and whatnot, but I think they have some extremely close deep rooted similarities but both applying to different environments and era's. As for sampling, that'd be cool, but I can't help but think sampling electronic music is a bit of a cop out :/

Also @pistonsbeneath; I've heard of Christ. never actually listened to any though, any recommendations?

I remember a few months back they said on their Myspace that they are back in the studio.
Any new news on that?

Was really into Boards of Canada for a few years, then I heard Geogaddi and it creeped me out so much that I mostly stopped listening to their stuff. I might have to listen to it again now actually. Music Has the Right to Children is such a magical album, one of my all-time favorites.
Never noticed any similarities between Boards of Canada and Burial (because Burial wasn't around at that time), but listening to both now I get what you're talking about. Similar elements used in different contexts.

Played Geogaddi on a EAW 800 rig in pretty much total darkness when it came out. I know what you mean. Seriously evil.

If Burial hasn't heard Basefree than I'd be very surprised. Need to cop Twoism on vinyl at some point.

Geogaddi was my favorite album for years, proper in bed at night with the lights off business.
Never really got into the third album

1969 is my favorite track, ever, by anynone. I love Boards of Canada

Yeah a mate introduced me to them a while back. Absolutely love their music.
Geogaddi is my fav album still, but I also can't get enough of Peacock Tail and Dayvan Cowboy. Just beautiful...

Btw, is it true that they have sampled the sound of the rising sun in one of their tunes? At least that's what that mate told me when he said I should check them out.

Yawww nice to see lot's of Geogaddi fans here, def in my top 5 albums of all time. I remember after a rough night listening to evil bassy music in brighton i had to walk home across the countryside back to mine with the sun rising listening to Geogaddi, absolute perfection.

And yeah the rumours are true, it would seem an album is on the way!

get this comp on benbecula you'll love it...it's got a tune on it by him that was the first thing he did solo, the whole release is stunning and one of my absolute faves with people like novel 23, mr projectile, bauri, frog pocket all providing amazing music that isn't pretentious or fussy

then after that he released 'pylonesque' ep with them..you can get it on wax and cd still fairly easily




his masterpiece for me is 'metamorphic reproduction miracle' and id go as far as saying its up there with anything boards have done as far as repeat listening is concerned...i always tryed to listen to it on holidays and doing different things and my memories are tied up with it





nothing after that has done it for me and i dont rate it...i think he was trying to escape bocs shadow and do something totally different

its mental to me that this music is for the most part 10 years old now

would love to remix something...actually got the go ahead from mr fitton aka bola to remix veronex cypher ages back but im scared of it as its a special song to me but be good to make stuff like this 140 to use in a set
