So we finished the tune, mixed it down and sent it off to mastering... Here's what came out.

i know you said its not mixed yet but i think all that needs o be sorted is that raspy synth that goes on, it's got a nice vibe to it, on the break down the pitch shift things are a bit too as well actually..

I really liked this, found myself listening to it all the way through without too much effort. Agree with Refuzed re; the raspy synth though, it's sitting too up in the mix for a lot of the tune. I'd suggest some very lightsidechaining to get it to pump ever so slightly just to give some variation.

Shout me when you've got a mixed/mastered version, would love to hear the finished product

Definitely a huge fan of the idea. I guess it would come down to when you have it mixed down. Which I can't offer an opinion till well its mixed down lol.

Yeah, the raspy synth is sticking out too much - and it's lacking a bit of warmth to fill it up
But I do like how you made this a 'song'. Intro, break, variations etc. Good work!
