Just wondering if anyone else just produces with their laptop and some headphones... I'm currently just using Logic Pro 9, Macbook Pro 2011, NI Massive, NI FM8, and some plug ins and shit... No keyboards or anything (Do have a Behringer, Multicom Pro-XL MDX4600 compressor but don't have the correct cables etc to use it yet)

Anyone else using a ghetto set up like this?

me kinda...old laptop + senn hd555 + small 2 octave midi keyboard + ni komplete 5 + cubase 4.5 + some free plugs

thats all ya really need. grab an axiom-25 and a set of monitors to switch it up once in a while and youre all set.

I think you'd be surprised by the amount of (professional) people who only use a laptop and headphones.. don't worry about it, gear won't make you a better producer!

I have monitors and a midi keyboard. I like having the option of Monitors AND headphones, both help me mix in different ways, both ways catch different elements in the mix to fix

i use a compaq laptop with ableton, with a 4 octave keyboard and mainly use my headphones, nothing fancy and ive also got some pretty shoddy computer speakers for when im just listening to music or wanna listen to my track a different way. eventually i want to get some decent monitors but untill then this works fine.

I have logic setup on my macbook ready to make beats on the go when I'm travelling the world DJ'ing..... one day!!

U have something that runs the synths and that's good enough. If u know ur headphones then u can make sounds and arrange them to make something decent IMO. U may want to check the mix on something else but it's still alright I think!

Just because someone has all the gear It does not mean they can make anything better

Haha, glad too see I'm not alone in my lack of hardware, just goes too show! What's everyones opinion on pirated software? I'm ultra poor but music's my passion and life, I have a few cracked things, but am actually saving up to buy them at the moment, what's you guys' opinions on this?

im fully on board with this approach,cant afford to do anything else so im gonna just keep going until the money flows and i can afford a keyboard!!!

there is enough freeware that you don't need to pirate. why does it matter what others opinions are on what you use?

Hell YAH!!! all i got is a computer,Reaper, a huge amount of plugins and ok speakers.Thats it i use the normal computer keyboard for my midi,i call it the poor mans midi.

I've got a Acer aspire laptop, headphones, fl studio and some vst's. It's enough for me
