Eh nothing too special personally, I don't think your gonna learn much from it tbh.
It's just gonna be either skrillyman style basses or prog house leads

It'll be interesting to see how some of the big guns go about production though, workflow + the like...

Yeah but tbh most of those "big name" producers feel that they can't give away there true production techniques or else the world will implode

If anyone can reproduce Deadmau5's production techniques I'll tip my metaphorical hat to them, guy's a hardware junkie...

I'd be interested, doesn't he use ableton?

I believe he uses a mix of FL and Ableton! (though I could be wrong)

Though I don't make the type of music he makes, this should be interesting!
I love seeing how other's come about producing

If you watch his ustream he uses ableton, and records a lot of stuff in from his hardware. He has a room full of big hardware synths, looks great fun.

According to this interview he also uses cubase and fl.

Even if they don't show you their true techniques... it's a damn fine opportunity to make some good connections.

I wished I lived in USA lol

Same man. The EDM scene in America is just so much better than here!

Really? I figured England was where it was at for EDM. You guys have Benga and Skream, Chuckie, Mary Anne, and others doing mixes on Radio 1 on the reg, unless Radio 1 is only in London (I've never been :( ). If that happened here i would be mighty impressed.

Nah mate, I mean they're good and all but you guys get DeadMau5, Skrillex, Feed Me, Wolfgang Gartner, Diplo.. list goes on

They all play in stadiums and arenas (loads of hot chicks wearing slutty clothes too ;-) ), not in shitty dark nightclubs like here, where its just a load of old men wearing coats :corncry:

You do realise that Deadmau5 is Canadian, and Feed Me aka Spor is English?

Agree on the stadiums vs clubs tho. Also it seems that dj's in the US always have a load of people stood round them? Whereas in the UK they're usually locked in a booth.

Yeah i wouldn't mind living in the US, ultra festival looks awesome. And it seems that dubstep is real popular over there?

UK isn't exactly bad for EDM tho, dubstep started here! We're one of the best places in the world for music, loads of good genres have come from the UK.

I think Hutyluty is being sarcastic :6:

Eh. Alot of people were listening to terribad dubstep for a while though. Like no name pokemon/harry potter remixes and stuff, and hailing it as the Holy Grail of bass music. Now people are all over the Deadmau5/Skrillex/Excision tip. But i can take it, as those producers put out music that someone could actually like, and have interesting sound design, instead of just putting a synced LFO on cutoff, haha.

no way! ah well, they seem bigger in america anyway- thats why i thought they were both american. Yeah in the US the djs properly get into it, its like theyre partying with the audience, crowd surfing and organising moshpits and the like (can't beat a good old moshpit at a dub show :5:). In England theres far too much emphasis on how good the dj actually is, rather than having a good time with your bros and the thousands of other people all getting down on the same shit as you, must be life changing.

Yeah, the big names are pretty sick, but the everyman djs are pretty sub-par here. Like, 16 bar blends with pretty much the same crossfader/knobs action everytime. But.... yeah. EDC Dallas was mad crazy, i could even ignore the fact that The Skrill was being a bad dj, because there was about 3000 people in that one room, with another 2000-3000 trying to get into the room. I was rolling too. My god, that was a fun night. Especially when Excision killed someone.

everyman dj's are far better at mixing than nearly every "big name" act i've ever come across
its rather pathetic
Our music scene in general revolves around dictatorial idol worshipping, rather than the comparably socialist, more densely populated production/DJ scene over there

We also value vocals over instrumentals, the Hit Single over a good set/album/collection, short-term profitability over timelessness, maximal over minimal, glowsticks over selection, artists over selectors, major labels over indies, larger-than-life aesthetic over realism, size over style, style over substance, ringtones over system music, (low) price over (high) quality, novelty over quality, hype over talent, etc. etc.
in short, we are a plague unto the earth and deserve a fate worse than death
