So I've been running into the same problem over and over again. My first question is, how do you all go about designing your drums and what are some different ways that can be placed for a nice non syncopated sound?
Alright second Q: How do you guys go about changing up the drums to break the repetitiveness. Like I understand how but I'm curious about some other ways of sequencing drums. Even sequencing synths and all. I'll write an amazing lead a strong bassline then after getting into it further all the sudden I can't think of where the melody or drums should go. They tend to stay the same in a lot of tracks with a few adjustments in each variation. Any suggestions?

what ill do is make my 1 variation at the end of bar two and then a different variation at the end of the bar 4, and then something like little snare roll with the variation from the bar before

Filtering is always good, try lo/hi-passing at the ends of certain phrases to gradually take some of the sound away and then it will appear to hit harder in the next phrase when it's back to normal again.

Also try dropping the drums out completely on some bits to again give emphasis when they return.

Other than that you can try resampling sections and whacking through other fx to give more of a warped sound
