Need a midi...

i want a midi controller, with a traditional, studio-mixer-style layout for DJing purposes, but there are some very specific requirements... I have right around 13" in front of my current setup, and Im completely out of side space, so I need something that will conveniently fit in front of an already standing DJ rig. Also. Need this to be able to control as many channels as possible (prefereably at least 6, but Id settle for 4), it should have at least 3 knobs per channel, preferably 4, but I need at least a 2 band EQ + effects mapped at all times for each channel. A crossfader is of minimal importance... And hopefully, it'd run on USB power and not be bogged down with blinking lights and silly shit thats gonna drain my batteries when I play.

Anyone?

Im so lost in this world of midi...

Also, do most controllers come with the midi > usb converter built in, or is this still like it was in 01, when I needed a specialized cable to do that?

I want something to control a few extra decks while I DJ, without having the obligation of using vinyl, right now, my only choice if I want to work with extra players is to use vinyl and CD in combo, and Id prefer to be able to carry all digital before I start booking out much more, a midi and CDs will be lighter then records.

i wouldnt worry about needing nay extra cables these days.

Have you looked at the Akai APC series? 20 and 40 might fit your bill. Also look at the Ill.gates templates and see if maybe a mpd or triggerfinger(discontinued) could suffice or even update your dj rig give you more room less sthit to care around. Or even integrating an Ipad? lol heres some links for ya.

THe APC20 may be small enough, I have one myself and it's around the same width as a 13" laptop. It only has 1 rotary encoder however.

Maybe the Kprg nanocontrol if you're short of space?

Do you know if someone have modified the Ill Gates template to work with the APC20? I'm only aware of an APC40 version myself. :)

You guys have misunderstood me, I dont use ableton, I dj, you know like beatmatching by hand, ect... big difference.

The APC has a few faders, but thats about all it meets as a requirement. Its got no knobs, and a load of perfectly useless buttons IDK what Id ever do with.

Im looking for something layed out like a traditional studio mixer like I said in the OP, you know, channel faders with effects/eq knobs above them. As said in the OP, at least 3 knobs per channel, I have to control EQ and pitch.
