(ABLETON)How to Install .dll

Im on a mac using Ableton, and i have looked and looked but i cant figure out how to install a .dll vst plugin! Please help me.

Sorry if im asking a stupid question...I cant help it.

You can't use VSTs on Macs bro. A(udio) U(nits) only.

No vsts on Mac? That can't be true?! Switching to macbook soon so this kind of scared me :)

Don't know what dll means in this case but on Windows it's a support file, you can't really use it.

you can only use a vst thats been made for mac i think.

.dll is a windows vst file

I think most of the big companies make VST and AU plug-ins but you'll have to lose out on some of the smaller ones.

Mac has a dif version of vsts. Look for Mac compatible ones.

This. Almost all plugins are available in AU format though. Personally I'd recommend moving to mac if your thinking about it, it just has such a better work flow, and everything is much more tidy and straight forward.

even in a vst thread folks find it important to get into the pc vs mac debate

Just to let you guys know. There is an app that converts VST to compatible mac formats. I can't remember what it's called though. If you look it up you should find it!

MAC VSTs have a file extension of *.vst whereas Windows VSTs are *.dll extensions so I'm pretty sure that unless there IS a universal wrapper for them as mentioned above, using DLLs on Macs is impossible. AU is also used with Macs as previously stated.

i know for sure, that there IS a wrapper plugin for them, can't remember what it's called though.
