Challenge No. 1 - Create a song using only 1 4/4 kick pattern
Has anyone seen Tom Cosm's video in which he creates a whole song using only 1 midi track of a 4/4 kick drum, and uses sends/returns to create the entire rest of the track? Its really inspirational and demonstrates the true open endedness of Ableton. The end result is absolutely unbelievable. h

It blows my mind, this guy really is quite the producer. :o

Challenge No. 2 - Create an evolving pad using no automation
So I just decided to change the name of the thread to dedicate it to Tom Cosm's awesome challenges, and supporting videos showing how he achieved his sound. I've literally learned so much about creating pads in just the first 3 or so minutes.

This is nothing new, anyone who has entered the sample pack competition has had to manipulate samples way beyond recognition.

You can load a single cycle waveform into a sampler and turn it into a synth, skys the limit!

Have they done it with only 1 midi track of a 4/4 kick drum, using sends/returns to create the entire rest of the track?

no but its the same principle. the vids pretty impressive, don't get me wrong. i'm just saying that you can create any sound you want with just a single waveform.
