Hey there!

I'm currently making a Dubstep track in LMMS. I've finished the creative aspect of it, and now I'm trying to fine-tune things to make it sound like a professional track.

-How do I EQ a dubstep track? (I don't really have any sort of EQing experience at all for any kind of music...)
-I want my drums to stand out more.
-I want to have loud, epic bass without clipping.
-Overall, I want a clean, professional-sounding track.

Please help me out. I've been searching the internet desperately to learn how to EQ well, and I haven't found very much useful information.

1) what do you mean "EQ" it? there's not like a theory for EQing something. You don't just perform the action of EQing and it's done, lol.
2) post this in the production forum

if you want your drums to stand out more, I could help you but I'd need more detail about what kind of drums you're designing.

If you want epic bass, boost the bass frequencies....

Clean professional sounding track? Well that's a whole lot of different things. Compression, EQ, well mastered, good mixdown, the amount of actions are endless....

Just put a bit crusher on the master, guaranteed to bring out that clean sound.

REAL ANSWER ALERT: lol albeit a very generalized answer im not trolling you like the rest lol.

For reals you want to MIX the elements together first. Eqing each track to indiividually optimize the freqs for each single track/element. Then when the MIX is sounding tight and right you will want to master your track to bring it into the same LOUDNESS as a "pro" track.

That is the simplified answer to your SUPER GENERAL and misinformed question. Read the Moneyshot thread to further blow your mind/expand your understanding of a mix.

blinx got it. Just eq each element separately and make sure that different elements don't sit in the same space on the spectrum...hoping I'm making sense to you.
