Production Environment?

I've been at college studying music tech now for 2 years out of a total of 3 I'll be doing. I find it really hard to get motivated to produce when I'm at college and find that I can only be inspired when I'm at home with a drink, in the warm and comfortable.
Do any of you find that you can only produce in a certain environment/place? And if so, where?

yeah i know what you mean man, i went to production school about 10 years ago, and all it did was make it seem like a chore so much that i stopped altogether and didn't even start getting motivated to produce properly again until about 6 years later.
I find i like working on music best when i've got a tidy workspace and a fresh idea in my mind. Late at night with a brew/beer helps too. Making music should be enjoyable, when it becomes regimented, it becomes work, and work tends to turn creativity into formality.

Space is a non-factor, but Time affects everything for me.
The later it is (say 9pm-10pm) the better I can produce (ideas, creativity, motivation, drive, actually ability to focus). As late-night, turns to early morning (3am/4am) everything dries right back up.

Yeah, it really does suck, they don't teach us much production stuff either :/

I find the same, around 8/9pm I do the most and by 12/1am I'm less in the mood, however, I can pretty much do it all day if I'm in the mood, but sometimes just on and off. Varies, but I have to be comfortable

Yeah man totally.
I don't like other people in the studio, I don't like making beats on other people's setups and I certainly never made a proper "£10 Bag" beat when I was at college.
State of mind and environment are crucial factors when making music!
edit: also, I recently set up all my gear in a new room (I'll put pics in the post your setup thread at some point) and my workflow has gone up loads. Mixdowns, new compositions, sound design, sampling from records, getting creative...it's all coming together nicely in my new room!

I produce any where i can get my laptop open and my headphones in. When im in my studio i normally have ppl around too. Easy feedback right away saves you tie sometimes.

I just like to chill in my basement and produce. I don't usually produce with people around, but sometimes it's kind of fun to help friends out and give them pointers, as well as get some feedback. Lately i've been really into producing on ustream, and I created a whole entire production set up with screen sharing and all, just because its fun for others to hear and see what i'm doing. Truthfully, though i'm sure people will flame me for this, I watch deadmau5 (joel) on ustream a lot and he is pretty much a technology guru really. Even if you don't like his music, watch that dude sit behind a wall of outboard gear twisting knobs all day, there is a lot to be learned there! After watching some of his interesting livestreams, it gave me a bit of incentive to produce and stream all at once, and in the past few weeks i've been streaming when I produce.

My studio room has to be clean, smelling nice (courtesy of my plug-in febreeze thingy) warm and without too much light (sunlight kills it for some reason)
As well as that I always need a drink, cold drinks like water are so-so but if I can get my hands on a tea of some sorts then well that's just swell
