In need of a new filter.

I just want something what cuts and passes; don't need vowel or formant or nothing like that I just want a high quality filter.
Ive been out of the "whats hot right now" scene for a bit so give me some suggestions.
I won't go over 200 for a filter though!
p.s - I am using the stock FL filters and the one with comes with sonimus satson :

I want something with a bit more depth than the satson but the same quality!

I really like the sound of tone 2 bifilter on its "lo pass moog" setting.

No modulation though but thats an easy work around.

I have heard good things from fab filter - i'll check out all the recommendations; the tone2 looks great (if a bit ugly)

BiFilter is nice yes.
Fabfilter live up to their name and have some of the best software filters, in their synths as well.
I've had the chance to work with Filterfreak a few times and I love it, all the SoundToys plugins really. In that other thread you said you couldn't live without a dub delay. I know what you mean! Check out Echoboy from them too.

With that budget, if you're looking for something 'better' than straight native plugins, but don't want to drop a hefty amount on something like UAD, I highly recommend TC Filtroid (
http://www.tcelectronic.com/Filtroid.asp). One of the best filters I've used. It requires a Powercore, but you can actually pick older ones up fairly cheap on ebay since they are discontinued, sometimes with plugin licenses included.
For free I got love for:
Naive LPF (it has a commercial big brother called SCAMP):

Kjaerhus Autofilter - They don't offer it any more afaik, but it's around
Frohmage:

fabfilter volcano 2 is a must if you don't have it!

Just repping scamp, a totally unknown, but quality sounding filter. Has some chracteristics with the bi-filter, ie, it sounds good.
Honestly, have not been wowed by fab filter's uhm, filters. They sound good, but didn't have that kind of edge and liveliness to them that I consider to be a "good filter". I'm talking smack. They are good filters, just didn't have that zing. Just me though. Excellent easy interfaces (except volcano2...). All mo.

kinda just mentioned it because its a simple cut and pass filter. one big knob. simple. for most applicaitons i dont mind the lack of finer res control, i think over all it has a rather nice sound, what are you not feeling about it?

Naw, does sound good, but I do find the resonance too limited.
