				Open the recycle bin.
Right click the file you want.
Restore [puts it back in it's original position]
Unless you've already emptied the recycle bin?

				If you already emptied:
1) STOP USING YOUR COMPUTER! (the more you use it, the less chances to recover the files).
2) Google Recuva.
I once formatted my external HD by mistake (it had EVERYTHING production related). I managed to get it all back.

@Wub Already Emptied!
@e-motion I'm using Recuva right now! The first time it found some mp3's I deleted but not the project files folder, it was earlier yesterday...I'm doing the advanced "hour-long" drive search....if it doesn't recover the project files folder I'ma kill myself(not really but I'ma rage like a mofo)

@legend4ry ............................................there goes a bunch of projects from 2 months worth.
@wub Lol no kiddin. I'm more in a shock/feeling like a dumbass than pissed.
Would recovering my computer to a restore point work? I heard about that somewhere before. I don't know if I have a recent restore point though..or where to check
That one program couldn't find the damn folder with the files either.

2 months isn't a huge loss. Just chill out and make it be a lesson innit?
I lost 3 years worth of project files, samples, midi scores, fx chain presets, one-off vocal sessions I had done blah blah blahh around Christmas 2 years ago (dickhead ex-friend of family stole a load of shit, cd wallet with back up dvds in there and external HD) and at the time my interal HDD was fried too.
Yeah I was pissed but I am thankful for it because I don't have a bunch of WIP's sitting around waiting to be finished.
My motto is ; if you can do it once you can do it again.

Ehh yeah I feel ya, that sucks....it could've been something worse for me....do you guys have any back-up drives? or anything? My other computer never crashed/loss memory or whatever so i wouldn't think it would happen to this newer computer. Should I get an external hard drive? or something?

YES!!!
Two if you can.
My current setup is;
- System drive w/ programs
- 2nd Int HDD w/ samples
- ext HDD (320Gb) for system, program & project file back up inc. VSTs/patches etc
- 2nd ext HDD (1.5Tb) for sample back up
Monthly backups onto both ext HDD, 320Gb is repacked back into it's box and put away when not in use to prevent accidental damage.

Even a small internal HDD which keeps everything separate would be better than nothing.
Have a back up of your back up then you won't get into situations like this.
External HDDs are pretty cheap these days and theoretically you only have to purchase one so.. its worth it!

Wow, I really need to get one then. Seems like everyone has a back-up for their stuff...
A question for the future when I get the hard drive(hopefully really soon)
Noobass question : How do you guys copy all your files into the external hard drive easily? Right-Click C)Drive >Copy>Paste into external? Or what.

Oh okay..I thought you guys had EVERYTHING from your computer copied onto the other drive. Shit I need to stack up some $$$ to get this.

You could always use a ghosting program and create a backup of your entire system once you`re happy with the install state.
Ideally you want to have a separate drive and run a RAID setup to make sure you don`t delete important files.
Even if you do, you`ll be able to recover them from the RAID.

Get yourself a bit of freeware backup software...that way you can set it only to only copy across the files whose states have changed since last time you back up, saves you doing the whole thing every time.

Im sure Ftk could recover your files, it is the software the FBI uses to recover evidence from computers. I've taken a class on it before, it's pretty awesome. It's rather expensive though.

No, restore points only backup system and registry files. Any user documents are left unaffected. Your computer will automatically make a new restore point every 24 hours or if there is a software or hardware change.
It's best to learn to back your content up!

I like legend4ry's motto. I've been deleting a lot of random wav files that I recorded with that idea in mind. If there's a time I'll need it, I'll recreate it.
Also, you can try online storage. I've noticed gmail says I have 7gb of space I can use and that is just one free email account!
